Riding the wave!
Category: Stuart's Blog
My 2year mark for being a Statusfirmian will be April 1 and I have to admit I came to Statusfirm being a little green in regards to the details of producing web-video and the efficiencies involved with getting it to the viewer. Being a moderate-geek I collect gizmo's and gadgets that I think are cool, often evaluating my real need after the purchase rather than before. I have been really intrigued with the advancements of mobile video devices and how society is demanding to have a video camera the size of a business card, I to am part of that crowd. Working at Statusfirm and building out our vision of Core Catalyst (our cloud based publishing platform) has opened my eyes to a whole new world of opportunity for not only creating content when and where you choose, but having the ability to share it instantly is even more powerful.
I want to share with you a camera that, when I saw the ad I was instantly drawn to. The camera is the Kodak PlaySport. We've all seen mini video cameras and we have a few floating around our offices here, but what was really appealing to me was that this camera is small enough to fit in the pocket of my cargo shorts, shock proof, water resistant and designed for the outdoor extremist or adventurer. Now to me, this is a camera that really caters to a demographic that often gets to view some spectacular scenery in some often aggressive conditions that most people will never see. Myself, being an outdoor enthusiast that camps, hikes in the back country and canoes any river possible, the PlaySport is the ideal gadget to have with me. I'm not afraid of it getting splashed in the canoe or been tossed around my Jeep on the way to the trail head.
Its awesome for me to see the advancement of this technology coming to a point to where its 1-affordable for the average Joe to buy and 2-produces awesome quality footage. Oh ya! Did I mention the PlaySport records in 1080p HD? Now thats crazy-cool!!
Thanks for reading and I hope you get to enjoy your own tech-geek-gadget in a way that is personal to you and your interests.
