Ran Newby - COO
After a career with an Alberta industrial service company that spanned nearly 35 years, Ran Newby brings his management experience to Statusfirm Inc. He began his business career in 1972 with Steeplejack Industrial Group Inc. and rose through the company ranks to complete his tenure, in early 2005, as the Vice President of Administration and Quality Assurance.
In October 2005, Mr. Newby was recruited by Statusfirm President, Christopher Sealy, to join the company as General Manager. Promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer in late 2007, Mr. Newby is responsible to the Board of Directors, for the efficient operation of the business, the effective management of its staff and the provision to its customers the finest internet sports, business and entertainment programs available.
Blayne Iskiw - Vice President - Health
The newest addition to Statusfirm's management team, Blayne has an extensive background in health administration and business, including master's degrees in both disciplines from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.
Prior to joining Statusfirm, Blayne held a senior management position with Capital Health in Edmonton (one of Canada's largest integrated health authorities), where he was entrusted with the challenge of developing and deploying an integrated telehealth network to support clinical care and employee education. Under Blayne's watch, Capital Health's BEAMcast network was successfully launched, which is widely regarded as being one of Canada's largest and most sophisticated telehealth networks and a model for health organizations throughout North America.
Under Blayne's leadership – and with a customer-focused approach supported by industry-leading technology and experienced staff – Statusfirm Health aims to be one of the most sought-after provider of health information technology in the market today.
In addition to his responsibilities with Statusfirm, Blayne also sits on the board of the Canadian Society of Telehealth.
Jeff Allen - Production Manager
Jeff is an honors graduate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's Cinema, Television, Stage, and Radio Program. In the past decade Jeff has earned a reputation as a skilled producer and cinematographer in the broadcast world. His attention to detail, creative treatment of scripts, and award winning stories help raise the bar on any project he undertakes. Jeff has produced and shot a number of orientation and recruitment videos across Canada. He has also shot and produced a variety of feature stories and documentaries for television across North and South America.
Steve McRory - Product Manager
With 25 years experience as a professional communicator, Steven McRory has worked with organizations ranging from local non-profits to multi-national consortiums. He has led the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and tactical solutions for all manner of internal and external communications. Steven has extensive experience across the entire range of media – from interpersonal communication to Web 2.0 – and has taught communication planning for corporate and post-secondary clients. His objective-driven approach to design and development ensures that every client achieves optimum return on their investment in a Statusfirm solution.
Trevor Cousineau - Senior Advisor
Trevor is a veteran video and television executive with more than 25 years in the industry. An honours graduate of the NAIT Radio & Television Arts programme, Trevor began his career as a video editor before moving into writing, directing, producing, and (eventually) senior corporate management. Today, Trevor specializes in communications and business development, with a particular facility for being able to translate complex and arcane subject matter into language that can be easily understood by anyone.
Scott Alexander - R&D Manager
Scott Alexander began his professional career as an apprentice in the telecommunication field. He has always had an interest in technology specific to the communication discipline. Scott graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a Certificate in Multimedia. There he was educated in producing online content ranging from optimizing video for the internet to designing and developing websites from the ground up.
Scott has been witness to Statusfirms expansion from its humble beginnings in a home office to its current corporate presence across North America. He is extremely excited to be a part of such a fast growing company and can’t wait to see where it takes him in the future. Scott considers himself very lucky to be in a position at a company that he truly has a passion for. His constant need to learn and explore is fulfilled by his daily tasks of scouring the ever evolving internet and looking at the new technologies available, and figuring out new ways to improve existing ones.
Keith Silgard - Technical Manager
Keith is an honours graduate from NAIT’s Digital & Interactive Media Design program. During the years spent honing his craft Keith has always focussed on efficiency and accessibility; values which he applies to all aspects of web development – from design through application development. Keith’s latest endeavour was to lead the team responsible for the design and development of Statusfirm’s CORE Nucleus Digital Media Management System – a proven content management system with fully customizable, off-the-shelf applications for creating unique broadband communication and entertainment networks, with a focus on simple administrator/user interface.
Melanie Nathan - Director of SEO/SEM
With more than 5 years of hands on experience in Search Engine Marketing and e-commerce for websites, Melanie Nathan possesses the ability to understand the plight of today's business owners and the challenges they face in trying to get their websites to the top. Her knowledge of Search Engine Optimization was acquired out of sheer necessity since she was eager to make her first e-commerce website a success. Putting her techniques to work as both an independent consultant and as an analyst at an SEO agency, she is now capable of developing, implementing and managing complex campaigns from concept through deployment as Statusfirm's Director of In-House SEO and SEM.
Melanie has appeared on CBC radio, has given numerous presentations on how SEO can benefit a business, is the author of many published SEO articles and continues to hone and develop her editorial skills as an editor for the open directory; DMOZ. Melanie is also an active and enthusiastic member of the SEO community and many social media communities such as twitter, stumbleupon, plurk, sphinn and digg.

Paul Atkins - IT Manager
Paul Atkins has been working in the field of Information Technology for the majority of his professional life. He is currently an associate of ISC² and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification in good standing.
Paul first worked with Statusfirm in the summer of 2005 by providing technical support for their webcast of the Alberta Centennial celebration. After a successful broadcast, Paul accepted a position as Statusfirm's IT manager. Since then, Statusfirm has grown in leaps and bounds with Paul and his team supporting them through their growth.
